Ancient and Medieval Church History

A study of Christianity from the Early Church to the dawn of the Reformation, with source material readings. This course places an emphasis on the application of church history to life and ministry and helps the student to understand the development of Christian thought and the formulation of doctrine as part of God’s overall pattern of history.

Course Description: This study focuses on the ministry of the Holy Spirit, spiritual fruit, and spiritual gifts. Students are guided in discovery of their own spiritual gifts and position of ministry in the Body of Christ.

Course Objectives: Describe the personality of the Holy Spirit.

  • List various names and titles of the Holy Spirit.

  • Identify emblems representing the Holy Spirit.

  • Describe the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

  • Explain how to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

  • Receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

  • List and define the gifts of the Spirit.

  • Identify your spiritual gift(s).

  • Identify the fruit of the Spirit.

  • Identify the works of the flesh.

  • Develop the fruit of the Holy Spirit in your life.

Course Requirements:

Read entire text.

Complete all chapter study questions. (Due at weekly meetings as assigned.)

Complete writing assignment.

Attend weekly classes.

Pass mid-term exam.

Pass final exam.

Writing Assignment:

Required 4-6 typewritten pages double spaced with 1 ½ inch margins. Required to address at least three of the following topics: [ insert topics ]

97-100 = A+

93-96 = A

90-92 = A-

87-89 = B+

83-86 = B

80-82 = B-

77-79 = C+

73-76 = C

67-69 = D+

Canceled Drop without penalty. Only applies within the first two weeks.

Course Description: Students learn environmental analysis on an individual, church, and organizational basis.  They learn how to analyze the spiritual environment of a village, city, state or nation prior to penetrating it with the Gospel message.

Course Objectives:

Identify purposes for environmental analysis.
Identify Old Testament examples of environmental analysis.
Identify New Testament examples of environmental analysis.
Do a personal environmental analysis.
Analyze a geographic area.
Analyze a nation.
Analyze a region of the world.
Analyze an existing Christian organization.
Explain the "REAP" plan of Harvestime International Network.
Use environmental analysis to plan strategies of evangelism.
